Canyon Girls - Protect Our Parks

Protect Our Parks

If all goes to plan, I’ll be finishing my first R2R at the end of May. Our group text is labeled Canyon Girls… so I made us some artwork not only to commemorate our trip, but to also support our National Parks and the mass layoffs. I will be making this into something.. patches, flags, apparel? I lived in North Dakota for 19 years… what Burgum is doing is appalling and pathetic. A man who was governor of the state where a National Park is named after Theodore Roosevelt. A President who was known for his conservation efforts. Our National Parks and Forests are for everyone to enjoy and not for sale.

If you want to learn more about the Grand Canyon and its beauty (and lets be honest, a lot of indigenous history that we all should know) please read A WALK IN THE PARK by @kevinfedarkoauthor. I devoured this book and absolutely LOVED his journey.

"In the Grand Canyon, Arizona has a natural wonder which is in kind absolutely unparalleled throughout the rest of the world. I want to ask you to keep this great wonder of nature as it now is. I hope you will not have a building of any kind, not a summer cottage, a hotel or anything else, to mar the wonderful grandeur, the sublimity, the great loneliness and beauty of the canyon. Leave it as it is. You cannot improve on it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it." ~President Theodore Roosevelt
