SAMMI Brand Identity | Street Art Museum Milano | Branding

SAMMI is a museum dedicated to the phenomenon of street art. It might seem a paradoxical concept to put street art in a closed space, but our curatorial experiment contributes to one of the prerogatives of street art, namely that of revitalizing squalid areas of the city thanks to artistic interventions.

Design Challenge

You shall design a brandmark for the museum which is in line with the founding values of the brand and its ambition. The language and the unique stylistic code of the brandmark can draw on the historic and contemporary heritage of street art, but it should not convey a sense of elitism or snobbery towards people who are not “part of the gang”. Street art culture is welcoming, popular, accessible and understandable by anyone. It is critical of the ugliness of the cities we live in, but in our case it is a constructive criticism, not a destructive one.

Technical Specifications

The main brandmark must show the acronym SAMMI and its extended naming “Street Art Museum Milano” as a tagline. The trademark must be reproducible both in color and in monochromatic version (think of a rubber stamp), in any size from the pin to the mural, on both physical and digital media.
