UI Design No. 1: Bold Mastiff
Hey, Peeps!
Thank you for being patient as I was taking my time to learn and familiarise myself with the lovely UI/UX tool called Penpot.
Below is my first UI design of a unisex parlor named Bold Mastiff that I came up with on the fly while I was learning Penpot basics from TJ Free on YouTube, where he was designing a web page for his Blue Heeler puppy.
What's in this Post?
1] Poster 1: UI Design of Bold Mastiff complete with an elegant footer
2] Poster 2: Typeface choices + Colour Palette
Software Used:
1] Penpot: For designing the UI (site)
2] Inkscape: For designing the typeface choices + colour palette poster (site)
Note
- Typefaces are free and open source and available from Penpot + found on Google Fonts
- Name of business, address of business, and their products and services are fictitious, and are made by the designer herself
As usual, constructive feedback is always welcome π

As aforementioned, the idea of Bold Mastiff instantly popped in my head while I was giving Penpot a go. So, here's the brief to get an idea of what it's all about.
The Brief:
1] Business Name: Bold Mastiff
2] Product: A unisex parlor that provides grooming services
3] Intended Audience: People of all ages
4] Feeling: Vintage + Classy + Bold + Friendly + Elegant
5] The Project: Design a simple landing page with a footer
The Process:
Of course, it was just the beginning of an idea, but I worked on fleshing it out to the best of my abilities, while also utilising whatever I learnt from Penpot so far. Furthermore, I have always had a penchant for unisex parlors and looking sophisticated, hence it served as both motivation and inspiration during the conception of Bold Mastiff.
Feeling a little daring, I challenged myself to create and add some design elements over the pictures to convey the message of looking good and confident, and to hopefully encourage the person to make a booking and/or explore more.
Board Size: Custom (1280 x 4415px ; Width x Height)
Images' Source:
1] Man in a Suit: Classy, vintage, clean, bold and sophisticated (pexels)
2] Bold Woman in a Suit on a Chair: Bold, confident, neat, and elegant (pexels)
3] Social Media Icons: Coloured version for grabbing attention (Vecteezy)
Poster 2
I decided to go for a minimal colour palette and legible typefaces for overall simplicity and elegance all while maintaining a cohesive visual language.
Colours:
1] Nero/#1E1E1E: Cool matte black for elegance
2] Mellow Apricot/#EFC070: Mellow gold for vintage and luxurious feel
3] Timberworlf/#DDDED5: Warm and bright silver for neutrality, a pinch of class, and contrast
Typeface:
1] Averia Serif Libre: Sophisticated, vintage, and classy feel (Google Fonts)
2] Noto Sans: Simple and modern look (Google Fonts)
That's all for now, folks!
More design pieces shall be coming soon so keep your eyes peeled or give me a follow to be in the know! π
