My Design Beginnings
2000 - 2008
Elementary school. I played basketball and I drew. A lot. Between classes, on holidays, at my grandparents' house, at home, by the river, under a tree, next to a herd of sheep—anywhere I could find solitude, I drew.
I was drawn to nature, particularly a specific scene. A mountain at the top, a forest below, and a vast meadow filled with flowers. It's an image from my mind, one I'm not sure if I ever saw in real life, but I kept drawing it over and over for years. I also experimented with portraits, not always successfully, but I was pretty good for my age. Eventually, I discovered there were different painting techniques, and I was eager to try them all.
These were my first artistic passions, the things that eventually led me to a career in design. I may not have become an exceptional painter, but I realized I could become a great designer. And in case you're wondering, yes, design is art—don't let modern businessman convince you otherwise.
