River Duck Puzzle

James Hughes author of theillustratorsguide and agent at folio illustration agency set a challenge to create portfolio work using October drawing prompts for a specific dream client. 

I used the prompt ‘River’ and created this mini shaped kids puzzle with Mudpuppy in mind. They’re a company that makes lovely creative and  environmentally friendly kids toys. 

As a part of this challenge I shared my process on social media and my followers got a chance to comment on and vote for sketches and colour options. It was a lovely way to show how I work in real time as often I can’t share real client work for months or even years after I’ve worked on it if at all. 

The illustration hasn’t been commissioned in any way but I’ve mocked this up on a box to give a better idea of how it might look as a puzzle.
