🍏 Rough & Tumble Play
Did you know Apple released a new “Events” app last week? While it’s a great addition, many of Apple’s existing apps could use some much-needed attention.
I got an Apple Watch for Christmas, and I have to admit, I’m a bit obsessed with filling my daily activity rings. Although I consider myself active, these rings have motivated me to get off the couch every day. It’s incredible how a little user interface and experience can significantly influence behavior. This new obsession got me thinking about the opportunities for tracking activities that Apple currently overlooks.
What If… Apple added “rough and tumble play” with your kids as a recognized workout activity. I have two young children, aged 5 and 2, and trust me when I say that this type of play is both physically and mentally demanding. I am lifting and tossing 40 and 30 lbs again and again, again, and again, and again, and again, and five more “last one” for good measure.
If Apple could track this activity, I would likely maintain a daily calorie deficit of over 1,000 calories. I enjoy playing with my kids and would love to have that activity documented on my Apple Watch. It would serve as an additional source of motivation and a dopamine boost.
For fellow exhausted parents out there, what do you think? Would this feature be valuable, or is it a bit too far-fetched?
