The sheer amount of specialised content threatened to overwhelm users, so I researched various navigation solutions and chose the compact mega menu.
Why?
It's that simple: expand it and you're done!
This is possible, of course, if it is well designed.
Unrolling the menu reveals the entire information architecture of the site at a glance, while segmentation allows you to promote relevant or new content. This approach is highly effective in practice and, when executed effectively, is straightforward to modify.
