Behind a Human mask
What is this about?
This piece is about the alienation and inhumanity I feel as a result of ASD and loneliness. Based off a picture of myself, I see this grotesque being as a version of me.
In this drawing you are the mirror, reflecting back what you see. This drawing is not meant to make you feel any good emotions. It is supposed to creep you out, to ick you. To show that even if you look human, are you really so?
Humanity and alienation is a topic I often explore. I do not feel human. I feel like an outsider, like an alien. With a world not made for someone with ASD, it can often overwhelm you. I do not understand social cues or the reasoning of many things. But, because that is what humanity decided was right, i must oblige by it.
