SaaS platform UXUI design

Overview

Plain is a next-generation SaaS platform offering lightning-fast customer support tools, seamless integrations with Linear and Slack, and a robust API for customization. I was tasked with designing the Plain website from scratch, ensuring it effectively communicated its innovative features and appeal to its target audience, including businesses, developers, and customer support teams.

Objectives

The design process aimed to:

  • Build a visually compelling website that reflects Plain's modern and dynamic brand.

  • Create a seamless user experience that guides visitors toward key actions like exploring features, learning about integrations, and starting a free trial.

  • Clearly highlight Plain’s technical strengths and developer-friendly approach with an intuitive layout.

Design Approach

  • Clean, Modern Aesthetic: Leveraged minimalism, clean typography, and ample white space to keep the design professional yet approachable.

  • Consistency in Visual Language: Used a consistent color palette and iconography to ensure a cohesive experience throughout the website.

  • User-Focused Navigation: Ensured users could easily find essential information, whether they were developers, support teams, or decision-makers.

Challenges

  • Balancing Technical and Business Appeal: Striking the right balance between showcasing the API’s technical capabilities for developers and communicating the platform’s value to non-technical users.

  • From Scratch Execution: Crafting a brand identity and visual language for Plain while aligning with the SaaS industry’s best practices.

  • Engagement Optimization: Designing CTAs and user flows that guide users to explore integrations and start free trials seamlessly.

Final Thoughts

Designing Plain’s website from scratch was an opportunity to translate a dynamic SaaS product into a visually compelling and user-friendly digital presence. The result is a website that communicates Plain’s value proposition clearly and effectively while resonating with its diverse audience.
