In-Game Placard – Inspired by Moscow Transit Design
Context: A stylized in-game placard designed for GMod, based on the official visual identity system of Moscow’s public transport
Challenge: Create an immersive in-game element that feels like a part of a real urban navigation system, while maintaining readability and authenticity
Bringing real-world system aesthetics into virtual spaces.
This informational placard was created for use in a custom GMod (Garry's Mod) environment, drawing direct inspiration from the visual language of Moscow Transport — particularly its signage used on buses, trams, and metro trains
How it was built
Designed using official Moscow Metro typography, grid logic, and iconography
Layout structured to resemble real passenger information boards: vertical orientation, logical grouping, bilingual labels
Balanced realism and clarity — type hierarchy and symbol placement were tailored for screen readability
The design aims to recreate the precise tone, typography, and structural hierarchy found in official placards, while also functioning seamlessly in a virtual modded setting
My role & solution
Graphic design and layout creation in Photoshop and Illustrator
Adapted reference materials into a compressed, GMod-friendly format
Tested legibility at various resolutions to ensure functional integration
The placard contributed to a more immersive environment inside the virtual metro, aligning with real world design standards while functioning within a modded game space
