The ‘Pain Gap’ describes the gender disparity women suffer from in healthcare settings; for instance, women wait longer and are 13-25% less likely to receive pain medication at the emergency room, even when presenting with similar conditions as men. Affirm is a women’s and AFAB’s healthcare app designed to aid users in learning about health conditions and procedures and advocating for themselves in the doctor’s office.
