UVA Library 2023 Annual Report

For the 2023 UVA library annual report, we focused on themes of community, unity, and the warmth that human interaction brings in all the Library does. Our visual interpretation of these themes is through actual needle and thread, physically sewing stories together to create a unified piece and collection of stories that reflect the Library's growth over the past year.

The cover design ties together a range of stories and exhibitions that the Library was able to unearth, share, and reflect on over the last year. Together, the stitched pieces create a new story that invites the audience to search for common threads and hidden connections.

We carry the hand-done elements into the interior of the book. Where lines are typically made on the computer, hand-stitched elements replace vector lines and shapes, reminding the reader of the humans behind every exhibit, program, and story the Library provides.
