Matchbook Distilling Co.'s Maillard Liqueur Packaging
Maillard is most known in the culinary industry as one of the foundational techniques in cooking. The name finds its origin from a chemical process called the “maillard reaction”, the produced result recognized by toasted or caramelized flavors. This is a new series produced and distilled by Matchbook Distilling Co. in collaboration with the Culinary Institute of America, capturing this magical chemical process in liquid form.
Inspired by “mise en place”, an organizational principle for preparing ingredients, the label features hand-illustrated bowls of ingredients that were used to create Maillard. An expressive script and gingham tamper tape harken back to vintage cookbook substrates, bringing a warm, familiar feel to the package.
