Self-Custody Trading Product Design System

The last thing you need as a startup founder?

Hiring a bad product (UX) designer.

You have to chase investors.

You have to coordinate sales team.

You have to create a marketing strategy.

You have to come up with a sustainable business plan.

You have to ensure everything is executed within the deadline.

And it’s all for nothing,

if the designer creates a bad user experience.

I had a great opportunity to work on a design for a self-custody trading app.

The client reached out because they didn’t like the visual look and UX of their existing product.

I started from the foundation,

by asking the client a lot of questions.

• About the product

• About future users

• About the competitors

• About client preferences

• About potential challenges

• About their vision and goals

• About their visual style preferences

• About the issues with the previous design

Then I started defining the visual language by creating multiple variations for 2 main screens in the app.

After we agreed on the style, I started researching and analyzing the most popular competitors.

I picked the ones that had the most user satisfaction.

Then I analyzed user flows, app navigation, proportions of design elements, screen layouts, etc.

With these insights, I was ready to start building the new design system and the first flows of the platform.

5+ months later:

• 150+ screens designed

• 60+ components

• 15+ user flows

The results:

- A client who is even more confident in their product

- Users who engage with the product every day

- Investors interested in funding its growth
