Structuring the Handover Process: A Success Case

As a Design Manager, I lead initiatives to ensure efficiency and clarity in feature development. One of the key improvements I implemented was restructuring the handover process between design, product, and engineering, enhancing collaboration and alignment across teams.
Key Improvements:
1.Comprehensive Documentation: Beyond delivering user experience flows and high-fidelity prototypes, the handover now includes:
1.1 Business and Product Rules: Detailed conditions and criteria essential for the feature’s functionality.
1.2 Tag and Event Mapping: Identification of specific points where events should be created, with suggested naming conventions aligned with the product team’s standards.
2.Focus on Metrics and Dashboards:
Introduced a dedicated section to define the primary goal of the feature, including key performance metrics for tracking.
Outlined the preferred visualization of metrics on the dashboard, facilitating the creation of actionable reports in collaboration with data and engineering teams.

Impact:
1. Increased delivery predictability and quality, reducing rework.
2. Established a clear and replicable standard that became a benchmark for future projects.
3. Streamlined the development of integrated dashboards, enabling continuous monitoring and a faster impact on product outcomes.
This initiative underscored the importance of a structured and multidisciplinary handover as a foundation for the success of digital products.
