Overview AeroVironment, a leader in automotive and aeronautical energy efficiency and unmanned aircraft systems, has been at the forefront of technological innovation for over 40 years. Their new product, the Quantix™ drone, along with the cloud-based Decision Support System™ (DSS), is revolutionizing crop monitoring for farmers. With this cutting-edge technology, AeroVironment aims to simplify and enhance agriculture through data-driven insights. The challenge was to design a website that would effectively communicate the value of these complex products in an engaging, user-friendly manner.
Discovery Understanding the depth of AeroVironment's technology was crucial in the discovery phase. Our goal was to present the advanced capabilities of Quantix™ and DSS without overwhelming users with technical jargon or heavy specifications. Through thorough product research and a deep dive into the competition, we gained insights into how we could set AeroVironment’s website apart. We also aligned with their established brand guidelines, which provided a clear aesthetic foundation for the design process.

UX Strategy The user experience strategy focused on simplifying complex information while maintaining clarity and user engagement. Given the technical nature of the products, we implemented UX techniques that allowed users to easily navigate the site and access both simple overviews and detailed information as needed. To enhance usability, we introduced a sub-navigation system to allow users to quickly jump to key sections, reducing the need for excessive scrolling.
Build With clearly defined brand guidelines in hand, our design team was able to push creative boundaries, particularly with the integration of animated SVGs. One of the standout features was the animated Quantix drone, which flew across the screen as users scrolled. This engaging visual not only entertained users but also guided them through the site, enhancing the user journey. The site was built on a custom .NET platform with a user-friendly CMS, giving AeroVironment control over specific content sections, while ensuring design integrity was maintained.
Test & Launch After the site was built, our team spent considerable time testing it across various environments to ensure all content displayed correctly and the user experience was smooth. Once testing was completed, we launched the site on the production server, conducting additional testing post-launch to ensure everything functioned seamlessly.
Closing Thoughts By combining intuitive design, engaging animated SVGs, and a strategic UX approach, we created a website that clearly communicates the innovative nature of AeroVironment’s products while ensuring users stay engaged throughout their journey. The result is a visually stunning, functional site that highlights AeroVironment's technological advancements in a user-friendly and compelling way.
