Overview

The Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow is a next-generation attack helicopter with advanced target acquisition systems and radar. It's one of the most feared warbirds in the U.S army due to its formidable arsenal. It's main armament is the 30mm M230 Chain Gun, and it can carry a variety of offensive weapons on its four pylons. The radar can detect up to 256 targets within 50 km.

Design Highlights

Drawing inspiration from the Apache Longbow's intimidating presence, I aimed to capture the essence of light refractions, motion, and digital pixel painting. Using various brush techniques and adjustments in Photoshop, I digitally painted textures and light reflections across multiple composite layers. The warm color palette I selected for the surrounding atmosphere and sky helped enhance the dramatic effect.

Several key components, including the rotors, machine gun, and missiles, were exported into Adobe Animate for animation. I meticulously designed the light blasts from the cannons, ensuring they refracted onto the canopy and hull of the helicopter in full action, adding depth and intensity to the scene.

To further elevate the experience, I utilized Adobe Audition to create and refine sound effects, synchronizing them precisely with the animation to deliver a fully immersive, dynamic experience.
