Scraperboard – Cheeky seahorses
The brief was to create a scraperboard illustration related to “Maritime” to be exhibited at the Frankston Art Centre. While the size was the same for everyone, the design could vary widely, offering many possibilities connected to the sea.
I considered several sea creatures and scenes, but since scraperboard is most effective when used with highly detailed subjects, I decided to focus on a seahorse, corals, and some maritime elements, like an old ring and watch. The range of small to large elements in the design could be used for products such as prints and T-shirts.
Although the scene is dark and quiet, I hope the cheeky seahorses bring a smile to the viewers.
Our scraperboard designs were displayed at Frankston train station in 2023.
