Recipe App Design
As part of the UIX101, I had the opportunity to design an intuitive and visually engaging recipe app. The goal was to create a seamless user experience that would cater to home cooks and food enthusiasts alike, guiding them from discovering recipes to saving their favorites, all with a focus on ease of navigation and clarity of interface.
The app's design embraces a clean, minimal aesthetic with thoughtful color accents like green (#5CB38C), symbolizing balance and healing—perfect for a wellness-centered experience. Consistent typography and well-placed UI elements ensure both novice and experienced users can navigate the app with ease. A mobile-first approach guarantees seamless adaptation across devices, enhancing the user experience.
The Home Page sets the tone for the app’s overall user journey. I employed a card-based layout to showcase featured recipes, creating a clean and structured visual hierarchy that directs the user's attention to high-quality imagery. By ensuring sufficient white space, I enhanced the app’s readability and minimized cognitive load. The consistent use of color and typography aids in maintaining visual consistency, ensuring that users feel comfortable and familiar with each interaction.
Enter your text here...On the Recipe Detail Page, I placed emphasis on clarity and accessibility. The step-by-step instructions are laid out in a scrollable, easy-to-read format, paired with ingredient lists that are distinctly separated to ensure the user isn’t overwhelmed. Actionable CTAs (Call-to-Actions) like “Log this recipe" are strategically positioned for task efficiency, ensuring users can interact with the app at any point in their journey without getting lost.
The Search Page was designed to provide a straightforward and frictionless search experience, with a focus on responsive and dynamic elements. Incorporating a predictive search bar enhances the search efficiency, helping users quickly find relevant recipes without overwhelming them with excessive options. The results are displayed in a grid layout, which not only maximizes screen space but also allows users to browse through multiple recipes at a glance, supporting efficient decision-making.
For the Profile Page aligns with the user’s need for customization and personalization. Here, users can manage their saved recipes, track their cooking progress, and update their profile details with ease. I focused on creating a minimalist design for the Profile Menu while ensuring functional clarity. Each element is easily tappable and follows Fitts’s Law to minimize interaction time, enhancing the app’s overall usability.
