Bab Ajeer AI CV creation tool

AI in CV creation

One of the more recent products worked on by Boldare is Bab Ajeer, an online Saudi marketplace where job seekers can find new vacancies and employers find new candidates.

In the product, we identified two key users issues for job seekers:

1 - Users spending 30+ minutes creating their CVs in-app, as seen in Hotjar recordings

2 - Users sending their CVs to customer support, hoping to have them fill out their in-app CVs

This prompted us to introduce the first AI-powered feature in Bab Ajeer - an integrated tool allowing users to import their CVs, automatically filling out their in-app CV in less than a minute.

To AI or not to AI?

In order to make a data-driven decision, we planned to track which would perform better via an A/B test - promoting it as AI-powered or as a regular feature without any AI-associated labelling?

Not mentioning AI in the header banner increased conversion rates by 18%

This allowed us to decide on which banner type to keep and how to treat future AI features on the platform. Based on the results, we kept the non-AI banner version.

Import preview

AI-powered features are always subject to errors and mistakes, particularly in their first iterations before the AI is able to learn and improve its accuracy.

In order to mitigate the risk of user dissatisfaction from the import outcome, we created a preview page which allows the user to either accept the imported CV, overwriting their profile, or reject it and return to their original CV.

User feedback

On this preview page, we asked users to rate their imports and leave feedback. This allowed us to compare results after each subsequent release.

The results of the initial release version was a “satisfied” 4.2 / 5.0 rating and comments, which were later used in planning improvements, as well as to identify issues in recordings of the users who provided lower ratings.

Let me know if you’ve ever worked on implementing an AI feature in your product and if so, what detail about the implementation or users’ feedback was most surprising!
