Burton Snowboards Rental Ecommerce Site
Sustainable Gear for the Conscious Adventurer
While working at The Arrive Platform, I had the chance to design and develop the resale and rental eCommerce platform for Burton Snowboards, a brand well-known for its innovation and commitment to sustainability. This project combined two essential aspects: offering returned and repaired products at discounted prices, and introducing a rental option to reduce waste and promote conscious consumption.
Products have a second-life
For Burton, the goal was to give customers access to top-quality gear without the need to buy items they might only use a few times. By providing rental options, the platform allowed users to enjoy high-performance snowboards and equipment without the long-term commitment of ownership, helping reduce the accumulation of items that could end up unused or discarded. On the resale side, returned items were inspected, repaired, and then made available for purchase at reduced prices, offering a second life to products that might otherwise have been thrown away.
The challenge in designing this platform was to create a seamless user experience that clearly differentiated between purchasing and renting options while keeping the sustainability message front and center. It was essential to showcase both the practicality and environmental impact of renting or buying pre-loved gear, making it an easy and attractive choice for users.
This project was all about minimizing environmental impact while maximizing customer experience. Through the platform, Burton not only extended the lifespan of their products but also empowered a more sustainable approach to outdoor adventure.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was seeing how Burton’s values of sustainability and innovation were reflected in the platform’s design. The integration of clear, user-friendly navigation made it simple for customers to explore both rental and resale options, while emphasizing the environmental benefits of each. By reducing waste and encouraging responsible consumption, this platform represents a shift towards circular economies in the outdoor gear industry. I’m proud to have played a role in a project that aligns with such an important mission, making it easier for adventurers to choose gear that not only performs but also contributes to a greener future.
