Halfpipe Pope

Title: Halfpipe Pope

Description:

For me, this piece represents a commentary on the ways religion can often confine people, shaping their lives in rigid ways that may not align with their deeper desires or true selves. Religion, in many forms, feels more like a cult—a community locked within a system of beliefs that doesn't allow for personal expansion. It can be more about the ego, where people cling to rules and judgments, rather than about true spirituality.

Spirituality, for me, is about love—eternal, boundless love that expands and sets us free. It doesn’t judge, and it certainly doesn’t confine people to roles or expectations. Skateboarding, on the other hand, represents the opposite of that: it’s liberating, it’s about moving freely, breaking boundaries, and being in the moment.

Through this image of a Pope and Imam skateboarding, I wanted to reflect that contrast between constraint and freedom, showing that even within the most structured systems, the desire to roam free and be wild still exists.
