Bog Turtle Illustration

Working on some new t-shirt artwork for Mountain Trail Outdoor School at Kanuga. We're hoping to produce a series of educational shirts about local wildlife in North Carolina. After the shirts are produced, I'll be sure to take photos and share them here.

This season's shirt features the critically endangered bog turtle, which can be found (rarely) in Appalachian Mountain Bogs across western North Carolina. They are the smallest North American turtle and can be easily recognized by red/orange-colored markings on either side of the neck. Biologists estimate that only 300 habitable sites exist for these turtles in North America.
