Digipak and Vinyl Artwork Design for Pocket Promise

A project I worked on that started back in 2009 - creating the artwork and Digipak CD packaging design for my band 'Pocket Promise'.

We recently celebrated 15 years since the album's release, so it felt like a nice time to share the artwork and provide some information on the process behind its creation.

The process behind the finished artwork began with a pencil drawing of a Swallow I had been sketching in a small sketchbook. I scanned the image and began playing with increasing the contrast and creating a much more 'ink stamp' type look to the image. I complimented this with some subtle textures and a blurred background comprised of falling leaves in abstract colours. The foreground was completed with some more falling leaves in 'focus' to create the perception of depth. The resulting images were completed mostly in Adobe Photoshop with a simple band logo (handwritten pen outline over lettering, scanned) and text being added over the subject image.

To celebrate the album's anniversary we performed a sold out gig and released a special 15 Year Anniversary Edition of the original album with five additional tracks. The new design featured some revisited artwork and a new colour palette.
