Arete — Shopping Journal Mobile App

Overspending and shopping addiction can bring real financial harm for the sufferers. Around 8 in 10 American Gen Z admits to taking on credit card debt or otherwise spending more than budget during vacations. 51% of American young people overspend to impress a date, and much worse, almost a quarter report that they are no longer in contact with the person they were trying to impress.

In this case study, we explore the creation of a shopping journal to help users track their shopping activities.

Arete, the shopping journal, comes with 3 main functions:

  1. Genie the Assistant (GTA) — a chatbot that helps users input data into the journal; because having a list and entering it manually is so passé

  2. Shopping Journal — get mindful with shopping habits: see where your money goes out to, what you purchased, and how you generally spend money

  3. Resource & Knowledge Base — create new habits based on knowledge and learn from other people in the Forums

The concept, UI, and coloring, was specially designed to provide a pleasant journaling experience. See it for yourself in the full case study on Behance.
