Overall, the design aims to capture the tonality of the band. The majority of their imagery is staged in the open desert, reflecting Southern California, where they originated. Their sound is dry and somewhat tense, with moments of beauty and release found throughout. With that in play, the design itself is centered around the cactus. Representing the dry and prickly sound, sprinkled with flowers in bloom, as moments of beauty. Playing off of the band’s name, I wanted to incorporate the mosquito - instead of the humming bird to pollinate, the mosquitos surround the flowers, feeding on the nectar. Brandishing the theme of unsettling beauty.
