KvARTal Festival 2024: The Spirit of Old Sofia

👩‍🎨 I had the pleasure of creating the visual concept for this year's edition of the "KvARTal festival", centered around the theme of Bohemian Sofia—a personal favorite of mine. My research included delving into resources like 'Bohemian Sofia' and exploring www.stara-sofia.com, as well as taking walks through the neighborhood to photograph buildings and details that serve as illustrations. The work of Haralampi Tachev, Bulgaria's first designer and the creator of many architectural fragments in Sofia, deeply influenced the visual direction.

🍂 At the heart of the design, I depicted Sofia's mineral springs, intertwined with the Great Tit (Sofia's symbol) and the city's rivers. The color palette features a dark background contrasted with golden lines, inspired by the elegance of Gatsby and Art Nouveau. I aimed to create a contemporary interpretation of the style, incorporating decorative shapes, flowers, and the iconic buildings of the neighborhood. And yes, there's a special nod to Sofia—a dog subtly featured in the illustration. Did you spot it?"
