Ninjdojo

The creative process behind this was pretty long. I had many ideas provided to the client, and while some of them weren't bad, it overall led me to creating a stronger logo overall.

For the mock-up, I found a pennant to be the most fitting object to put this logo on, as I believe it would work on a piece of cloth like this or a flag at a dojo.

When I reached the sketching phase, some of my first few ideas was having a ninja star slice through some bamboo, or having some kunais on a flag. This was an attempt to make a less generic logo and something that would stick out.

When I reached the design process, the client and I started to notice a few issues with some of them. They were too much like illustrations and were very busy. There were some pretty cool ideas for illustrations, but they weren't working for a logo. Making kunai for the dojo part of the text was a neat idea, but with the ninja head above, the two were competing for each other in terms of focus, so I dropped the kunai overall and stuck with the head.

Once the design process was done, choosing the right colors was the next step. I came up with various color palettes to use, and while they were pretty nice, the client thought the black ninja with the white background was overall the strongest.

In the end, I came up with the final version that is much simpler in design and also shows what this brand is all about, and it left both the client and I satisfied.
