🐍 Great snakes!

Growing up I loved Hergé's work especially the adventures of Tintin.

So I want to experiment with creating some self portraits for my Dribbble portfolio in Hergé's signature style.

Process

To create some Hergé style images I needed to learn his process. I wanted take his traditional process and then modernise it where I could whilst still staying true to his traditional methods so they look and feel felt like a faithful homage.

I found some Hergé images using flat colour so I wanted to replicate this way of colouring.

My first process test was to create a portrait of Hergé's most iconic character.

I first created a pencil sketch using the simple shapes first process that Hergé used when drawing. I then 'inked' the pencil drawing using some black acrylic paint as I wanted to have the effect of traditional brush marks.

I then image traced the black line as a top layer and made a colour layer behind the black line using colours from Hergé's palette and used a vector background I found on Vecteezy to give the feel of watercolour on paper.

I now had a workflow for creating these images.

Next I will apply my new process to create some more Hergé characters
