The purpose of this project was to utilize the current designs found on The San Diego Zoo's website and create something that would fit into that identity. Even so, this project gave me a little more freedom with styling, since there were quite a few styles of banner to choose from--the one I chose, of course, including cartoon style drawings of animals, their prints, and their handlers. When I think of a zoo, I immediately recall memories of my younger self enjoying running around a simulated safari, getting to stare at giraffes and petting sloths. I wanted to memorialize that feeling in a banner. In my travels around the site, I did discover a photo of a double-decker bus that the Zoo had repurposed for use on tours around the park. This idea stuck out among the others as best in line to translate the whimsical, childish theme I wanted to engage with.
