A New Leaf | Gouache Paint Illustration

This piece was started in fall 2020 and finished in fall 2022. After the drawing was complete and ready to paint, I discovered the house went under construction. I decided, much like the entire world in quarantine, to wait until what was out of my control was finished. The dark blue house was transformed with crisp white siding and a brand new roof. However, the cheerful yellow door that first caught my eye was replaced with a modern black option. This painting represents my ideal house that exists only in imagination. A symbol for embracing change and a longing for the time before Covid. Gouache on watercolor paper.
