Air Lookout’s tabs
Here I’m showing all the top level views of Air Lookout’s tabs.
From left to right: Air quality at the user’s current location, top 10 cities with best/worst air quality, and the app’s settings.
The background color changes based on air quality. The colors are adjusted from the EPA’s suggested Air Quality Index colors with an emphasis on improving visibility and differentiation for a variety of common color blindnesses (protanopia and deuteranopia).
This was taken from the app running on an iPhone 6 and reading real data (recording was taken at 10PM MST). At the time of recording, Salt Lake City had the 5th worst average (over the past 12 hours) air quality measured by the United States EPA.
Also: slowly rolling out to more beta testers… Leave a comment if you’re interested!
Check out the attached video for 60fps goodness.
All feedback and questions are welcome.

Air Lookout is an app to quickly find and understand air quality at your current location. It reads all of it’s data from the U.S. government’s EPA air quality stations across North America.
I’ve been working on this longer than I’d like to admit. I learned Swift and UIKit to make this app. It has been an amazing learning experience and full of all sorts of neat challenges. I’m sure there’s many more to come.
