to save goat and cabbages

"to save goat and cabbages" is an italian way of saying that means: save two or more achievements apparently irreconcilable.

this way of saying borns from a logic game: a farmer must bring a goat, a wolf and some cabbages on the other side of the river. But the wolf would eat the goat and the goat would eat the cabbages! what's the trick to bring safe all of them on the otherside?
