Thearot: A modern take on Tarot, with a sense of humor

This is my first-ever personal project. Modern take on Tarot cards, that are text-based and paired with a set of metal polyhedral dice. Nested in a sturdy box, all spiced up with beautiful rose gold foil. Learn more about the project here.

Thearot Deck

The deck holds 93 cards, of which are 22 Major Arcana, 70 Minor Arcana for 5 elements of nature (instead of four like in traditional Tarot), and an extra card The Void. The most auspicious card in the deck. The deck is accompanied by five rose gold metal dice - d20, 3xd10, and d12. Dice is here to tell the level of strength each card will have in a reading, and predict a time frame in which a certain event could unfold. They can be used as a stand-alone, as well.

The text on the cards is inspired by contemporary pop culture references and memes. Every card is connected with a song, for people who learn that way the best (or just enjoy music in general) that can be looked at in a handbook. Even tho the deck is based on humor, it doesn't mean that it's not serious when it has to be. Its main mission is to help you feel better, whatever your current circumstances are. If it makes you smile, its mission is accomplished in full. :)

The whole set (a deck, dice, handbook, and a cotton bag) comes in a beautiful sturdy box, and when you're on the go, you can carry your divination tools in a bag.

About the project

This was imagined at a time when I was feeling very down and worried about the future and in a moment, my love for gaming, Tarot, and design just fused. I wanted to create my deck for so long but was always stopped by the fact I'm not a professional illustrator. It took me a while to realize that I love words, that I love playing with words, and that making a hybrid between an oracle and Tarot cards is not such a bad idea. :) It was a challenging adventure getting this pre-production copy made, taking pictures that can capture the true glory of the product even more challenging, but here I am. Hoping to find other like-minded people who share the same passion. If you want to join me in this adventure, visit the project page and hop on the good juju train with me. :)
