Revamping ECO DEPO Non-Profit Organization’s Logo

Background

ECO DEPO is a non-profit organization in Bulgaria dedicated to environmental conservation through the renovation of old landfills and waste dumps. The client wanted a logo revamp that would better reflect their mission for a strong commitment to sustainable recycling practices and engage their audience.

Challenge

The existing logo, while functional, lacked visual impact and failed to communicate the organization's core values effectively. The challenge was to create an easy-to-read logo in fresh colors that would keep the existing symbols and resonate with the younger stakeholders.

Approach

I was the main designer involved in the project execution, and here is my comprehensive process to revamp ECO DEPO's logo:

Research:

-  Conducted a thorough analysis of the organization’s mission, and target audiences.

-  Explored existing logos of similar environmental non-profit organizations to identify trends and gaps.

Concept and Design Exploration:

To maintain the client's direction of keeping the existing symbol of an oak tree, I combined a circle and a waterdrop in the logo. This concept unites sustainability (oak) and purity (waterdrop), community (circle), and growth (green).

The color palette includes the master green color and several neutral colors like charcoal black and cold light grey tints. Combined with neutral colors, the green looks vibrant and accenting.

Typography

The wordmark is based on the Century Gothic typeface, customized with elements from the logo, balancing modernity with approachability and a sense of movement to evoke environmental consciousness.

Results

The new logo stands out, making ECO DEPO more recognizable at events, campaigns, and online platforms, communicating its commitment to sustainable practices, environmental preservation causes, and climate awareness campaigns. With improved legibility and a bright palette, it is another ambassador of the recycling movement.
