2D/3D Experiment | New Series? | See Caption

Should this be a new series? If so, what should I call it?!

I have to be honest with this one—I didn’t have much hope going into this drawing. I was about 1 hour in and was ready to delete the whole thing. Here’s why 👇

My sketch was super rough. I really didn’t have a plan, adding depth in this way was uncomfortable, and it took much longer than expected.But to experiment, these are the places your mind has to go. Just like any project, especially ones you have high hopes for, you have to push through these thoughts. I was really excited to try out a new method to push these landscape illustrations.

So, I thought doing a 2D/3D mix would be an interesting idea. I didn’t have time to add text or a design like I wanted to, but that will come 👀.Anyway, the step-by-step way to experiment, especially in design and illustration, is to push past those negative thoughts. You can make something you’re happy with by trying a new approach. I edited out all the mistakes I made on this one. And sometimes, you won’t create something you’re happy with. And that’s okay too. That’s why I’m calling this an experiment.
