Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club
The Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club (RREC) is the International Club for Rolls-Royce and Bentley Enthusiasts. The Club's headquarters boasts an enviable vehicle archive, museum filled with artefacts, workshop for technical seminars and our administrative offices.
PROJECT WORK
Over the years I designed and worked on several hardback coffee-table books for the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club, with titles such as “Strive for Perfection: Celebrating 110 Years of the Spirit of Ecstasy” and “Exploring the Extraordinary: 100 Years of Bentley Motors”. The yearly publications chart the origins and influence of Rolls-Royce and Bentley as symbols of high-end motoring. The publications went out to all club members worldwide, publication partners and all Rolls-Royce and Bentley dealerships.
Design work included cover and editorial design, page layout, typographic system creation, selecting unique materiality such as papers, finishes and special Pantone colours, event branding and marketing asset creation.
Book launches were often in the Grosvenor House ballroom, combined with the London Press Club Ball and more than 1,200 guests attending. Each year using a newly created event branding in connection to the publication theme.
Concept & considerations
Apart from creating overarching concepts and themes for each yearly publication, it was always important to create an elevated but considered typographic system. It had to function across 400+ pages with content ranging from 16-page editorial car features to paid-for advertising content that was uniquely created in the style of the publication. It was key to create adaptable systems that look consistent, but be flexible enough to work with varying editorial content.
