Graph Styleguide
When our Business team asked for help with how to represent graphs in presentations, we saw an opportunity to build upon our existing brand. We faced several challenges including consistency with our current branding standards, enabling a breadth of variable sets, and allowing for visual differentiation.
Our design team drew inspiration from the persistent gradient at the top of our website and the shades of gray in our color palette. From there we concluded that the graph colors had to appear to be balanced between bright and muted shades. This balance would guarantee that the color palette felt connected with our brand and that the shades would be easy for the eye to differentiate.
Knowing these constraints, we chose colors from the gradient, adjusted their brightness, and placed color swatches next to one another. The color scheme follows a pattern of a muted color followed by a brighter shade.
The resulting style guide allows for a variety of variable sets and expands upon our brand standards. It’s used throughout all of our presentation materials and dashboard product.
