Road to Perdition for The Bigger Picture Show
Here's my poster for this year's #BiggerPictureShow. Search for Bigger Picture Show for more info.
This year was fun for me. It's a movie that's in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. The cinematography, the soundtrack, and the acting are all top-notch. So I was a little nervous doing this justice at first. The concept comes from the old movie posters from the 30s, the era that this movie is set in. In my research, I found a lot of them used a lot of red and yellow in the design, so that was a must for this design. The other thing was large heads with a "tiny scene." One thing that I wasn't able to accomplish in the time I had to do this, was creating headshots that looked like oil paintings. I just didn't have the skill to pull that off in the weeks that we had. So I had to make due and try to incorporate that style as accents and background.
I actually love how this turned out with the colors and style. I have a print of my own coming my way to hang on the wall. This will be my very first design of mine that I've actually hung up.
If you've read this far, you'll see the progress from sketch to final design again, along with some closer shots to show details.
Also, small details: Tom Hanks and Tyler (kid) are looking left of the camera. Paul Newman, Daniel Craig, and Jude Law are looking right of the camera, and are the three main men that Tom Hanks kills. Stanley Tucci is not on the poster because he was not killed.
Can't wait for next year!
If you would like a print, contact me. The original size is 24x36 and can scale down from there. I have an 18x24 hanging on my wall.
