Role: Deputy Chief of Creative at The Voice of the Martyrs.

I was responsible for the visual development and layout of the John Chau magazine, managing freelance and layout artists and all steps of print production.

We commissioned illustrator Scott Campbell to hand draw artwork for a strikingly different style than previous magazines for Voice of the Martyrs. Since then the use of hand-draw illustrations has become part of the VOM visual brand.

Custom Illustrations

Several key illustrations were commissioned to be used in multiple avenues including social media use. The above illustration is of Operation Auca in 1956 with missionaries Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian.

Custom font

As part of the project I created a custom font using scans from John Chau's handwriting to be used in this and associated projects including the 2022 Day of the Christian Martyr video.
