2015: A lot of details

It's been a busy year. In fact, the busiest year Cottleston Pie has had so far. I've worked with really great people and organizations on some fun projects.

I updated the Cottleston Pie website a few months ago with recent projects. The main goal of my studio's site is to provide the reader with a quick sense of the work that we do, and the problems that we solve for clients. And I think our site does a good job of that. But one of the elements that many portfolio sites lack, including ours, is the detail about design decisions made during the project.

It's nice to see the full view of a page design. It shows off a cohesive design system within the context of the full site. And I think that works well in a portfolio site. It gives the reader enough information to make an informed decision about whether you're the right person or studio to help solve their particular problem. And you can always go into more detailed reasons for design decisions during the initial conversation if need be.

While a portfolio site isn't always the place to dive into the nitty gritty about a project, those decisions are important, and I find them interesting. So over the next month, I'm going to be using Dribbble to do just that. I'll share a detail shot of a project and describe why a certain design choice was made. Hopefully this can shed some more light on the Cottleston Pie process and the work that we do every day.
