Rowndd App UI Design

Rowndd is an app that makes splitting group payments easily. Being on its 4th iteration for the product, this app aims to make splitting the bill amongst large groups easy. Rather than having one person add up all the items, or doing an even split around 6 cards, everyone scans the bill and pays their share.

We had plans to monetise this app, like taking payments in the app and having a small fee for the convenience, but when testing with focus groups, we were met with reluctance, so decided to do away with this. Also, to process payments using Stripe or similar, we'd lose money on the fees they take - defeating the app's purpose.

We ended up settling on making the app entirely free, and collecting data - for example; bill amounts, party size, restaurant location, restaurant style, and average tip. These insights can then be sold on.
