Stealth - Design System

Design System

Company: Stealth (Using "Stealth" for confidentiality)

Year: 2024

* I have made deliberate modifications to certain aspects such as copy, colors and logo to maintain the confidentiality.

The company was an American software firm that creates authoring tools and solutions for technical writers and documentation teams. I built a design system to deliver reusable components that could be used to create component libraries, templates and pages across the website as well as to maintain consistency to create a more polished and professional look to the website.

Challenges

The team was facing challenges with inconsistencies across its existing website. Discrepancies ranged from patterns including structure, typography, and background colors to misaligned color codes. The presence of multiple style sheets for each page complicated the developer's ability to make modifications efficiently. The use of multiple style sheets for each page made it cumbersome for developers to implement changes, requiring modifications across several files. This not only increased the likelihood of errors but also slowed down the development process.

Solutions

In response to these challenges, I led the development of a comprehensive design system aimed at standardizing the visual elements on the website. The primary goal was to introduce a unified style sheet, addressing both the user experience and the operational efficiency of the development team.

Benefits

The integration of a design system and a consolidated style sheet contributes to an improved user experience. Through the refinement of page structures and design patterns, users can navigate the website with enhanced seamlessness and intuition, facilitating an optimal exploration experience. This will not only increase conversion rates but also improve user retention, underscoring the positive impact of design consistency on user engagement. In addition, developers benefit from a more efficient and manageable process for making modifications.
