Jira Time Tracker - App Design

Jira Time Tracker entries screen.

Here are a few screens of our Jira Time Tracker Mac app. If you want to take a look at those in action, you can download our TestFlight beta version here.

A few screens of the Jira Time Tracker app.

I wanted to replicate the functionality of the harvest Mac app, since we really liked working with it, so our first draft was very close to that design.

We didn't work with React Native for MacOS before and wanted to make sure that this project was feasible by creating a small MVP using that design first.

The image below shows our MVP next to the harvest app:

After we got the MVP up and running, I redesigned the interface (you see the result in the first two images in this post). The redesign went relatively smoothly, the only hurdle was the synchronization indicators in the main entries screen.

These indicators should show the user whether their new or changed entries have been synchronized with the Jira database. In our initial designs, we had a system where blue indicated a changed item and green indicated a synchronized item (similar to the GitHub change indicators, for example). All these designs looked a bit too cluttered, so we went for a much simpler version, which can be seen in the last screen below.
