Colours of Kerala

This Collection includes some of my illustrations of Kadhakali, A kerala Art form. Kathakali is a traditional Indian dance-drama, or classical dance-form, that originated in Kerala over 300 years ago. It's one of the oldest theater forms in the world and is considered a "story game" genre of art.

In this illustration, you'll see a Kathakali dancer, tears flowing with rage, symbolizing humanity's conflicts. Behind him, blood-stained leaves speak of the devastation from our wars. It's a humble reminder of the harm caused by human violence, urging us to seek peace.

There's a Bharatanatyam dancer in a scene of destruction. All around her, her fellow warriors lie defeated. She's the last one standing, but she's not backing down. She's ready to keep fighting no matter what.

In the following depiction, the Kathakali dancer is depicted wearing virtual reality glasses. This signifies a reminder to preserve Kerala's cultural heritage for future generations. It's a representation of embracing modern technology while also emphasizing the importance of safeguarding traditional values.
