Remania Rebrand Romania

Remania is our hope for the future of Romania. Remania is the place where Romania's design helps its citizens.

Meet The National Badge

Romanians care about their history and values, that is why, although we opted for a more minimal, modern, and geometric design for our badge, we kept all the original national symbols and their meaning. This could further solidify Romania as a growing east-european powerhouse while maintaining our history and traditions.

Digital Romania

The unity of the Romanian people and lands is illustrated through the colours and symbols of its shield. While most digital uses won't permit such a level of detail, we think it's of utmost importance to maintain the message of unity. That is why a grayscale national-color-tinted shield will replace the original one in the digital landscape.

Our Classic New Symbols

Regarding the modernisation of the national branding elements we chose to keep all of the original ones but reshape them inside the same semi-circle shape, further exploring the theme of national unity. The national pattern is inspired from the knitting on traditional Romanian clothes so, in a sense, it is also one of our oldest national patterns.

A Badge System

The new national eagle is now incredibly versatile, as it can be used in its eagle and shield form, as just the eagle, or just the shield, each of these uses enhancing separate elements of our national identity.

The Great Union

These symbols all have rich history. The Muntenia eagle with a cross in its beak dates back to 1368, the Moldavian aurochs to 1392, and the "Seven Citadels" german name for Transilvania to 1296 while Transilvania's shield is first attested in the 16th century. Dobrogea's 19th century dolphins on blue background and the Oltenia Golden Lion upon a golden Dobrogea bridge first seen in this form in 1921 are the latest symbols to join our shield.

The State Never Felt More Organised

The strong yet simple shape of the eagle built with lines allows for a great deal of badge explorations for our institutions, the regal crown of our badge can be replaced by the silhouette of the parliament or government building to illustrate their own culture and history, while the Romanian courts' hexagon shape portrays their independent and balancing nature.

Badge Versatility

We made a point out of the versatility of our new badge, as we've made it possible to encapsulate it in any shape necessary to give the overarching institution a fresh look, while for hierarchically lower institutions such as ministries, their roles can be illustrated through design inside the smaller shield of the eagle.

Digital Symbols

Each of the regional symbols, though not present inside the digital shield for accessibility and size-appropriate design reasons, can be used separately in the tinted grayscale format, in order to keep our national digital identity clean and to the point, making it incredibly easy to navigate for any category of citizens.

Our Digital Future

Romania finds itself at a crossroads right now, as the fastest growing european economy, and with an increasingly important tech sector becoming one of our greatest national strengths, we firmly believe that we require a digital identity, be it websites, apps, or branding, that matches our current european emergence status.

Forever Beautiful

The beautiful lands and people of Romania almost need no introduction. The end goal of our project is helping them grow inside the country and navigate its institutions with more ease. Filled with hope for a better designed future, we hope this finds you well.
