Sufjan Stevens

A portrait of musician Sufjan Stevens. I drew this after the release of his album Javelin. It was also after news of Stevens health struggles and loss of a loved on were made public. Sufjan already puts a lot of himself and his personal struggles into his music, but I wanted to create a portrait that shows him open, vulnerable, but recovering.

This piece was accepted into the Society of Illustrators LA 62 annual show. It was also created while I was attending a class with Visual Arts Passage. Big thanks to the great illustrator and teacher Sterling Hundley on this one.
