X from Xylophone

Illustrated Capital Letter

This Illustrated Capital Letter perfectly mixes the typographic concept and the illustrative-artistic one, because I've used the top part as a typographic concept for this letter because that replaces the xylophone keys that are further away from those that are closer to the illustrative-artistic concept (the bottom part). For doing the typographic concept the most simple as possible and highlighting the illustrative-artistic one, the base letter is sans serif. 

To do this Illustrated Capital Letter with musical theme, I've started drawing the sketch, outlined it and colouring the top part in black. Next, I've coloured the xylophone keys with calibrated markers, giving them their respective base color, shadows, lights and volumes to do them more realistic. Then, I've coloured in black the another side of the X and finally, I've coloured the base that holds the keys, but not the keys themself. It's color balance, because if I had colored both sides, it would be very visually overloaded to see. 

It's done with callibrated black markers.
