Seekers Book Cover Design

In this project, I design two book covers in the Seekers book series written by Erin Hunter. My goal was to create a strong design language that would speak to the genre and tone of the book series and help readers engage with the story. In order to convey the themes of fantasy, adventure, nature and comradery I chose to take a collage approach using natural textures, layers and hand-drawn elements. I depicted the three protagonist bears in a manner that would allude to adventure, intrigue the reader and evoke imagination.

The color scheme is playful and imaginative, catering to the audience. I chose Cheddar Gothic sans for the title and the Cheddar Gothic serif for the subtitle. This typeface has a somewhat rustic feel, evoking a sense of carefree, rough-and-tumble adventure. Trebuchet MS was used as the body type because of it's easy readability and simplicity.

I drew on ideas of silhouettes, collage and mixed media.
