Jackson Audio / Silvertone

Buckle up. This is a long one.

Anybody remember the old Sears Silvertone brand? I do. Jackson Audio sure does. Jackson got a dream team-up opportunity and brought me along to produce the 1484 Twin Twelve pedal.

Jackson says, “In 1963, history was made with the release of the Silvertone Twin Twelve Amplifier. Originally listed in the Sears catalog as the 1484, the Twin Twelve was offered from 1963 to 1967 and became the most coveted of all the Silvertone amplifiers. The unique sound of this amplifier proudly powers the tones of many of today’s best rock icons such as Jack White, Dave Grohl, Beck, Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) and many more.”

You can’t just slap something like this together. This is history. This means something to a lot of people. They got the sound down and asked me to help get the look together.

After 60 years that original logotype art had probably been buried in a drawer at someone’s house. I bet all versions moving forward were just photocopies/stats of photocopies/stats. After a while the art becomes mush. So I recreated it. Tried my best to do the original justice. No funny business. No “reimagining” and whatnot. I did make a few tweaks that my old eyes thought would be an improvement and us design nerds would appreciate.

This was a dream come true for me and I bet Jackson as well. Thank you to Jackson for bringing me in on it.
